Colors that Bring Calm
Our homes are our sanctuaries, now more than ever. While we’re spending more time at home, it can be beneficial to our well-being to bring a sense of peace into the home through simplification of our space and thoughtful design choices. Cleaning, clearing clutter, and embracing a “more is less” mentality will help reduce overall stress. To bring an added feeling of zen to a room, paint choice is key, and an easy transformation to make with a can of paint, roller and brush. Color pallets found in nature, like Behr’s Color of the Year called Back to Nature create a soothing backdrop. This green hue is “restorative and revitalizing” as described by Behr.
Pair it with plants and greenery for an added sense of tranquility in the space.
Green isn’t the only color that harkens nature. Look to another Color of the Year, Benjamin Moore’s First Light, a pale pink that reminds us of a sky at sunrise, projecting hope on the horizon. It is bright, and warm and pairs beautifully with natural woods.
Try the color in a dining room or create tranquility in your bedroom or bath with BM First Light as your wall or accent color. Below is a design board for inspiration, featuring brushed nickel fixtures, distressed white wood vanity, patterned bath mat and a mirror frame in Cherokee Rustic French White Oak.
