With summer upon us, we can’t help but be inspired by the flowers in bloom, the color of the sea and the fresh, warm breeze. My mailbox is full of catalogs with nautical prints and bright white linens. So let’s kick off our shoes, open the windows and bring the outdoors in with some great images of summer-inspired bathrooms.
First we start with one from Coastal Living via an adorably preppy design blog, Shorely Chic. I first saw nautical chart wallpaper on a house tour in Massachusetts and forever have loved the unique, coastal quality it brings to a bathroom by the shore. You can either use real charts from places you have a connection to, piecing them together to create a wall paper – or purchase chart-inspired wall paper on the roll.
And sconces don’t have to be boring – check out these ones below that instantly bring a nautical feel to the room. Simply add some white paint, striped towels – and a natural mirror frame in Pemaquid Oak or Portage Pebbled White or Sand for a beach chic bath.
Try painting the walls the color of the sea and sky with Benjamin Moore’s Windmill Wings or Sassy Blue. White paint on the vanity and a MirrorMate frame in Pacifica Silver Sheen will add a sparkle to the room.
Finally, make it white and bright. A white vanity, white MirrorMate frame in Pacifica White Cap and a touch of summer with a white orchid, or simple white hydragaes from the garden make for a crisp, clean and welcoming bath in summer – and throughout the year.
Most importantly, happy summer!!
